The Vienna Experience

The city of Vienna is full of places associated to art and culture; therefore, you can expect many great places that you can visit there. The architecture on its own is art in itself, as there are different structures around the city that will put you in awe because of their beauty and their magnificence. To get a general view of the city, start with the Danube and the Danube tower. The Danube tower is the highest bungee spot in the world, and you can try and take in the sights while falling or you can just choose to stay on the tower and enjoy the panoramic view of Vienna.

The buildings are worth noting because they show the history of Vienna as a city of culture. The Schönbrunn Palace is a good example of the Baroque period’s magnificence, only outshined by France because Austria did not have sufficient funds. Still, it remains to be in the cultural heritage list of the UNESCO because of its beauty and its historical importance, serving as home to different leaders before becoming property of the Republic of Austria.

Other buildings worth noting are the Burgtheater, which is one of the first theaters of Europe known for its excellence in the arts; the Belvedere Palace, which you can appreciate on its own or you can go inside and find museums filled with various paintings from 19th and 20th century Austrian times; the Hofburg, which shows an earlier, medieval history of Austria and is considered their imperial palace; and the Vienna Opera House, which is reminiscent of the Renaissance period. Vienna is a great place to get ideas of the different eras and their architecture, and a great place to get a feel of Austria’s history.
