Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is the city that can be found in the Canary Islands, which is a territory of Spain. More popularly known as simply Las Palmas, this city is full of places you can visit to sightsee and to relax. First up is the northern tip of Las Palmas, La Isleta, from which you can reach the highest point of Las Palmas, which is Las Coloradas. In Las Coloradas you can see a view of the city, the sea around the island, and the mountains surrounding the city.
You can also go see the Auditório Alfredo Kraus, which serves as a home to the Las Palmas Philharmonic Orchestra. The auditorium is a beautiful modern piece of architecture which has ten concert halls in total inside. Also, up north there is the Castillo de la Luz or the Castle of Light, which has seen fights against Dutch pirates and has been declared a national monument for it served as a fortress for the entirety of its existence before it was burned down and restored.
You can also go to Pueblo Canario, which will give you a feel of the traditional Canary Island setup with traditional houses built in the complex. In the pueblo is the Museo Néstor, in honor of Néstor de la Torre, one of those who designed the complex, and the museum contains some of his works on display.
You can also visit the Ciudad Jardin, which was built by the English in the early 20th century when they settled there, and see the Parque Doramas and its landscaping, which is the highlight of the Jardin. There are more sights in Las Palmas, but these are some of the notable places to visit when you are in the Canary Islands and in the city of Las Palmas.
